Rick was a tremendous leader, inspiring all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Rick will be forever missed, but his legacy will live on ...

Rick Butler - husband, Dad, brother, uncle, and friend to absolutely everyone who met him, left us suddenly while doing what he loved most - skiing with his beautiful daughters in Kananaskis on December 26, 2011. Rick was a natural, dynamic leader and community builder that felt strongly about improving his community.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us in his recent passing. We have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and encouragement that helped sustain us during this difficult time.

We want to thank Pastor Jason Koleba of Cochrane Alliance Church for walking beside us and officiating the memorial service on January 4th. It was a TRUE celebration of a life well lived and we remain uplifted in knowing that Rick touched many lives along the way with his infectious laugh, optimistic attitude and visionary leadership. Our appreciation is extended to Gary Laing of Cochrane Country Funeral Home, RockPointe Bearspaw Church, Brad Carter of Event Planners Plus, Sure Print, Days Inn & Suites Cochrane and the media for covering Rick’s life and legacy so well. Thanks also to the many people who sent condolences, meals, flowers, loving thoughts or have donated toward the Rick Butler Leadership Fund.
